Yuichi Sato

Yuichi Sato (佐藤祐市, Sato Yuichi) is a Japanese film and television director born on August 18, 1962, in Tokyo, Japan. He has directed a wide variety of feature films, television dramas, and television movies throughout his career, frequently collaborating with major networks such as Fuji TV and WOWOW.

Career and Major Works

Sato has built an extensive filmography spanning multiple decades, directing television dramas, television specials, and theatrical feature films. Some of his notable television drama credits include King of Sushi (1996), Waterboys (2003), The Family Game (2013), and Absolute Zero 3 (2018). In addition to serial television, he has directed notable television movies including Last Promise (2010) and Taishi Kakka no Ryourinin (2015).

In feature films, Sato's directorial work includes Kisaragi (2007), Strawberry Night (2013), Kasane: Beauty and Fate (2018), The End of the Tiny World (2021), and the live-action adaptation of City Hunter (2024).

Awards and Recognition

In 2008, Sato received recognition at the 50th Blue Ribbon Awards, where his feature film Kisaragi (2007) won the award for Best Picture.
