Yonder is a South Korean science fiction drama series that premiered in 2022. Directed by Lee Joon-ik, the six-episode series was released on the streaming platform TVING. The narrative is set in a metropolitan environment in the year 2032 and explores philosophical questions regarding the nature of existence, death, and the potential for digital consciousness.
Plot
The story follows Kim Jae-hyun, a reporter for the media outlet Science M, who struggles to cope with the death of his wife, Cha Yi-hoo. Following her passing, Jae-hyun receives an unexpected message from his late wife, inviting him to a mysterious place known as "Yonder." It is revealed that before succumbing to cancer, Yi-hoo entered into a contract that allowed her consciousness to persist in this digital space, which exists between life and death.
