Yawao to Katako
Yawao to Katako (Japanese: やわ男とカタ子) is a Japanese television drama series that aired on TV Tokyo from August 7 to September 25, 2023. The series consists of eight episodes and was broadcast on Mondays from 23:06 to 23:55.
Plot
The story follows Rikuo Koyanagi (played by Shohei Miura), a lawyer who identifies as an onee. Having navigated personal challenges regarding his identity in the past, he encounters Fujiko Katagiri (Rena Matsui) at a social gathering. Fujiko struggles with low self-esteem and insecurities regarding her appearance. Observing her behavior, Rikuo offers to help her gain confidence and improve her outlook, leading to an unlikely mentorship.
Production
The drama is based on the manga series Yawao to Katako, written and illustrated by Ayumi Osada, which was first published by Shodensha on April 7, 2018. The television adaptation was directed by Hajime Senoo, Jin Ueda, and Yusuke Koroyasu, with a screenplay written by Kumiko Aso, Miho Aotsuka, and Sayaka Abe.
