Wife of a Spy (2020 Film)

Wife of a Spy (Japanese: Spy no Tsuma) is a 2020 Japanese historical drama film directed by Kiyoshi Kurosawa. The screenplay was co-written by Kurosawa, Ryusuke Hamaguchi, and Tadashi Nohara. The film premiered in Japan on October 16, 2020, and was distributed by Bitters End.

Plot

Set in 1940, the story follows Yusaku Fukuhara, a merchant based in Kobe, Japan. During a business trip to Manchuria, Yusaku discovers a disturbing national secret. Driven by a desire to expose the truth, he risks his reputation and safety. His wife, Satoko, initially stands by him despite the accusations of treason leveled against him, choosing to remain by his side regardless of the consequences.
