Undercover (2021 South Korean TV Series)
Undercover is a South Korean television drama series that aired on the cable network JTBC in 2021. The series, which consists of 16 episodes, was broadcast on Friday and Saturday nights at 23:00, running from April 23 to June 12, 2021. It is a remake of the 2016 British television series of the same name, which originally aired on BBC One.
Plot
The narrative centers on Han Jung-hyun, played by Ji Jin-hee, a veteran agent of the National Intelligence Service (NIS). During his time at the police university, he was recruited by the agency and subsequently assigned to a high-stakes, top-secret operation. While working under an alias, he meets Choi Yeon-soo, portrayed by Kim Hyun-joo, a civil rights lawyer dedicated to pursuing justice. The two eventually marry, building a life together while Han maintains his secret identity.
The conflict arises when Choi Yeon-soo is nominated to lead the Civil Servant Corruption Investigation Unit. Her high-profile appointment threatens to expose Han Jung-hyun's past and his true identity, forcing the couple into a complex and dangerous situation that tests their relationship and their commitment to their respective ideals.

The series was directed by Song Hyun-wook, with a screenplay written by Baek Cheol-hyun, Song Ja-hoon, and Jung Hye-eun. The casting reunited lead actors Ji Jin-hee and Kim Hyun-joo, who had previously worked together on the 2015 SBS drama Identical Affairs.
Undercover occupied the Friday and Saturday 23:00 time slot on JTBC, following the conclusion of the series Beyond Evil. It was succeeded in the same time slot by Nevertheless on June 19, 2021.
