The Liar and His Lover (2017 South Korean TV Series)

The Liar and His Lover is a South Korean television drama series that aired on the cable network tvN in 2017. The series, which consists of 16 episodes, was broadcast on Mondays and Tuesdays at 23:00 from March 20 to May 9, 2017. It succeeded the drama My Shy Boss in its time slot and was followed by the series Circle.

Production and Background

The series is based on the Japanese manga Kanojo wa Uso o Aishisugiteru, written and illustrated by Kotomi Aoki, which was first published in 2009 in the magazine Cheese!. The production was directed by Kim Jin-Min, with a screenplay by Kim Kyung-Min. The primary cast participated in script readings held at the CJ E&M Center in Sangam-dong, Seoul, on January 21 and February 8, 2017.

Plot

The story follows Kang Han-Kyeol (played by Lee Hyun-Woo), a talented music composer who draws inspiration from the voices of others. To maintain his privacy, he conceals his identity from the public. His life intersects with Yoon So-Rim (played by Joy), a high school student gifted with a remarkable singing voice, who develops feelings for him.
