Tanabata no Kuni

Tanabata no Kuni (Japanese: 七夕の国) is a Japanese science fiction television series released in 2024. The series is an adaptation of the manga series of the same name written and illustrated by Hitoshi Iwaaki, which was originally serialized in Big Comic Spirits between 1996 and 1999.

Plot

The story follows Yoji Minamimaru, a university student known to his peers as "Nanmaru." While he appears to be an ordinary and somewhat absent-minded individual, he possesses a minor supernatural ability that allows him to create small holes in any object. His life changes when he becomes involved in a conflict that escalates to threaten the world, forcing him to confront the implications of his power.

Production

The series was directed by Yusuke Taki, Takahide Sano, and Hayato Kawai. The screenplay was developed by Akiko Miyoshi, Mari Asato, and Yusuke Taki. The show consists of 10 episodes and was distributed via Disney+ between July 4 and August 8, 2024.
