Syndrome is a South Korean medical drama series that aired on the cable network JTBC in 2012. The series, which consists of 20 episodes, explores the high-pressure environment of a neurosurgery department.

Plot

The narrative centers on the professional and personal lives of neurosurgery residents. Lee Hae-jo, played by Han Hye-jin, is a first-year resident who strives to excel in her field despite not having graduated from a premier medical institution. She works alongside Cha Yeo-wook, portrayed by Song Chang-eui, a resident with an impeccable academic background and family ties to the hospital's leadership. The series also features Kang Eun-hyun, played by Park Gun-hyung, who serves as the chief resident. The plot follows their development as surgeons and the interpersonal dynamics that emerge between them.

Production

Syndrome was directed by Lee Sung-joo and Ko Jae-hyun, with a screenplay written by Kim Sol-ji. The series aired on Mondays and Tuesdays at 20:45. It premiered on February 13, 2012, and concluded its run on April 17, 2012. The series occupied the time slot previously held by Padam Padam and was succeeded by Happy Ending on April 23, 2012.
