Production Background and Plot

The film is based on the manga series of the same name written and illustrated by Io Sakisaka, which was serialized in the manga magazine Bessatsu Margaret from June 13, 2007, to August 11, 2010. The screenplay was written by Sayaka Kuwamura, and the production was managed by Minami Ichikawa, Akihiro Yamauchi, and Takahiro Kawada, with cinematography by Koske Yamada and assistant direction by Shinji Kuma.

The story follows Ninako Kinoshita, a high school student with a pure and honest personality. Although her classmate Daiki likes her and she is aware of his affections, she remains uncertain about her own feelings, though she experiences unusual emotions around him. While commuting home on a train, she encounters Ren Ichinose, a popular male classmate. As Ninako and Ren begin spending more time together, Ninako develops romantic feelings for Ren.
