Plot Synopsis

Set in the near future, the story centers on the fictional Chinese city of Haiwan, a major economic hub. Scientists predict that a massive earthquake will destroy the city within three months. To prevent this catastrophe, the governments of South Korea, China, and Japan agree to a joint operation to install a specialized stabilization device beneath the city. As the project faces interference from unknown adversaries and assassination attempts against key personnel, the three nations form a top-secret task force known as "Strangers 6" to protect the operation and uncover the conspirators.

Production

The series was directed by Ryuhei Kitamura and Jin Ma, with writing by Joji Iida and Ureha Shimada. Production faced significant delays following the 2011 Tohoku earthquake and tsunami, which pushed the original spring 2011 filming schedule to July 2011. Casting changes occurred during this period; actress Han Chae-Young was initially cast as the lead character An Ji-Hye but withdrew due to scheduling conflicts caused by the production delay. She was replaced by Kim Hyo-Jin.
