Stolen Identity (2018 Film)

Stolen Identity, known in Japan as Sumaho o Otoshita dake nanoni, is a 2018 Japanese suspense film directed by Hideo Nakata. The screenplay was written by Tetsuya Oishi, based on the 2017 novel of the same name by Akira Shiga.

Plot

The story follows Asami Inaba, a temporary worker whose life is upended after her boyfriend loses his smartphone in a taxi. Following the loss, Asami begins to experience a series of unsettling events, including unauthorized charges on her credit card. These incidents eventually draw her into a dangerous criminal investigation.

Production

The film was produced by Tetsuta Tone, Atsuyuki Shimoda, and Tamako Tsujimoto, with cinematography by Yuta Tsukinaga. Principal photography took place between June 1, 2018, and July 5, 2018. The film's theme song, "Himitsu," was performed by the rock band Polkadot Stingray.
