Plot

The story follows Hyeon-Jeong, played by Moon So-Ri, who finds herself suddenly single after her boyfriend of seven years, Min-Seok (Lee Sun-Kyun), abruptly ends their relationship. Faced with the emotional aftermath and societal pressures regarding marriage, she seeks a new partner. She eventually meets Sang-Hoon (Kim Tae-Woo), whose shy and awkward demeanor initially attracts her. As she decides to commit to a life with Sang-Hoon, her former partner Min-Seok attempts to reconcile, complicating her emotional journey.

Production and Release

The film's Korean title, Sa-kwa, carries a double meaning, referring to both an "apple" and an "apology." Although production was completed earlier, the film experienced a significant delay in its theatrical release. While it was originally scheduled to premiere in South Korean theaters in the spring of 2005, it remained unreleased for three years.

Reception

Despite the delay in its domestic theatrical run, Sorry Apple received recognition at international film festivals. It won the FIPRESCI Award at the 2005 Toronto International Film Festival and the Best New Screenplay award at the 2005 San Sebastian International Film Festival.
