Solitary Gourmet Season 1, known in Japanese as Kodoku no Gurume (孤独のグルメ), is a Japanese television drama series broadcast on TV Tokyo. The first season ran for 12 episodes from January 4 to March 21, 2012, airing in a late-night runtime slot on Wednesdays from 24:43 to 25:13.

Source Material and Origins

The television series is based on the manga series titled Kodoku no Gourmet, written by Masayuki Kusumi and illustrated by Jiro Taniguchi. The original manga was serialized between 1994 and 1996 in Monthly PANJA magazine. The screen adaptation was directed by Kenji Mizoguchi and Tadaaki Horai, with scripts written by Yoshihiro Taguchi alongside contributions from the source material creators.

The narrative centers on Goro Inogashiro, portrayed by Yutaka Matsushige. Inogashiro works as an import trader specializing in general goods, requiring him to travel across various towns in Japan for business.
