SKY Castle is a 2024 Japanese television drama series broadcast by TV Asahi. The series is a remake of the 2018 South Korean drama of the same name, which explores the extreme lengths to which wealthy families go to secure their children's enrollment in elite educational institutions.

Plot

The story centers on Sae Asami, a housewife living in the exclusive SKY Castle residential complex. Married to a doctor and mother to two daughters, Sae is consumed by the ambition of ensuring her eldest daughter gains admission to a prestigious high school. Her neighbors, including Izumi Minamisawa, Kyoko Nikaido, and Misaki Natsume, share similar aspirations for their own children. The social dynamic shifts when they learn that the son of their neighbor, Kaori Saejima, has successfully passed an elite entrance exam. This discovery leads them to Ayaka Kujo, an exclusive and highly expensive exam coordinator who claims a 100% success rate for her students.

Production

The series was directed by Naomi Tamura, Yuji Nakamae, and Kazunari Hoshino, with a screenplay written by Hiroshi Hashimoto. It aired on TV Asahi's Thursday 21:00 time slot from July 25 to September 26, 2024, spanning nine episodes.
