Singles (Korean: 싱글즈; RR: Singkeuljeu) is a 2003 South Korean romantic comedy film directed by Kwon Chil-in. The film explores the lives, careers, and romantic entanglements of a group of friends as they navigate their late twenties.

Background

The film is based on the Japanese novel 29 Sai no Kurisumasu (literally "29-year-olds' Christmas"), written by Toshio Kamata and published in 1995 by Shinchosha Publishing Co. Ltd.

Plot

The story focuses on Na-nan, who navigates the complexities of her professional life and romantic prospects as she approaches her thirtieth birthday. Alongside her childhood friends Dong-mi and Jung-joon, she faces the challenges of modern life in Seoul. The trio's dynamic is tested when Dong-mi and Jung-joon experience an unexpected romantic encounter, forcing them to reevaluate their long-standing friendship. Meanwhile, Na-nan balances a new career opportunity with a marriage proposal from a man named Su-heon.
