Shuichi Okita

Shuichi Okita (沖田修一) is a Japanese film director and screenwriter born in Aichi Prefecture, Japan in 1977. He is well-known for directing and writing numerous feature films and television drama series.

Career

Okita has built an extensive filmography as both a director and screenwriter. His feature film directing and writing credits include works such as Ryoichi & Kiyoshi (2006), The Chef of South Polar (2009), The Woodsman and the Rain (2012), A Story of Yonosuke (2013), Ecotherapy Getaway Holiday (2014), The Mohican Comes Home (2016), Mori, The Artist's Habitat (2018), Ora, Ora Be Goin' Alone (2020), One Summer Story (2021), The Fish Tale (2022), and Satoko wa Itsumo (2026).

In addition to his work in cinema, Okita has directed and written for various television drama series. His television credits include contributions to Coloring Himura (TBS / 2012), 0.5 no Otoko (WOWOW / 2023), and Hey Detective, Your Backpack is Open (TV Asahi / 2026). His additional directing credits in television encompass No Con Kid (TV Tokyo / 2013), Hibana: Spark (Netflix-NHK / 2016), and Fruits Delivery Service (TV Tokyo / 2019).

Alongside his work behind the camera, Okita has occasionally made appearances as an actor, with roles in productions such as Japonica Virus (2006) and The Extreme Sukiyaki (2013).
