Shinsuke Sato

Shinsuke Sato (born 1970) is a Japanese film director and screenwriter known for his extensive work in adapting manga and anime series into live-action films and television dramas. Born in Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan, he attended Musashino Art University before beginning his career in the film industry.

Career

Sato has established a significant presence in Japanese cinema by directing high-profile adaptations. His filmography includes the Kingdom series, which began in 2019, and various genre-based projects such as Gantz (2011), I Am a Hero (2016), and Bleach (2018). In addition to his directorial work, he is frequently involved in the screenwriting process for his projects, ensuring a consistent vision for his adaptations.

In recent years, Sato has expanded his work into streaming television, most notably directing the Netflix series Alice in Borderland, which premiered in 2020. He has continued to oversee the series through its subsequent seasons.
