Shadow Detective Season 2

Shadow Detective 2 (Korean: 형사록 2; RR: Hyungsarok 2) is a South Korean crime thriller television series. It serves as the second season to the 2022 series Shadow Detective. The show was directed by Han Dong-hwa and written by Im Chang-se. It premiered on the streaming platform Disney+ on July 5, 2023, and concluded its eight-episode run on July 26, 2023.

Plot

The story follows veteran detective Kim Taek-rok, portrayed by Lee Sung-min, who returns to the Geumo Police Station. Seeking to avoid further conflict, he accepts a transfer to the Women and Juvenile Affairs department. However, his attempt to maintain a low profile is complicated by the scrutiny of his new department head, Yeon Ju-hyun (Kim Shin-rok).

As Kim Taek-rok navigates his new assignment, the political landscape of Geumo is dominated by Assemblyman Lee Young-ho (Joo Jin-mo), who is campaigning for re-election. Tensions rise as Lee identifies Choi Do-hyung (Jung Jin-young), the head of the Youngseo Welfare Foundation, as a political rival. Amidst a series of local burglary cases, Kim Taek-rok launches a final investigation to identify and confront his elusive nemesis, known as "Friend."
