Secret Reunion (2010 Film)

Secret Reunion (Korean: 의형제; RR: Uihyeongjae) is a 2010 South Korean action-drama film directed by Jang Hun. The film explores the complex relationship between a former National Intelligence Service (NIS) agent and a North Korean spy who cross paths years after a botched operation.

Plot

The story begins with a mysterious shooting in Seoul that leads to the dismissal of NIS agent Lee Han-kyu (Song Kang-ho). Six years later, Lee works as a private investigator, while Song Ji-won (Gang Dong-won), a former North Korean operative, lives in hiding within the Seoul metropolitan area. Their paths converge as they navigate their respective pasts and the ongoing tensions between their former organizations.

Production

Principal photography for Secret Reunion commenced on June 5, 2009, with a production schedule spanning approximately four months. The film was distributed by Showbox. For lead actor Song Kang-ho, the role marked a return to the espionage genre, having previously appeared as an agent in the 1999 film Shiri.
