Scholar Who Walks the Night
Scholar Who Walks the Night (Korean: 밤을 걷는 선비; RR: Bameul Geotneun Sunbi) is a South Korean television series that aired on MBC from July 8 to September 10, 2015. The drama was broadcast in the Wednesday and Thursday 21:55 time slot.
Production and Development
The series is based on the webcomic Bameul Geotneun Sunbi, written by Jo Joo-Hee and illustrated by Han Seung-Hee. The original work was first published as a comic by Seoul Media Group on December 25, 2012. The television adaptation was directed by Lee Sung-Joon with a screenplay by Jang Hyun-Joo.
During the production phase, actress Jin Se-Yun was offered the lead female role but ultimately declined. Filming faced challenges in June 2015 when lead actors Lee Joon-Gi and Lee Yoo-Bi sustained injuries. Lee Joon-Gi suffered a fractured nose on June 10, 2015, and returned to the set on June 18. Lee Yoo-Bi sustained a waist injury on the same day and resumed filming on June 25, 2015.
Plot
The story follows a daughter from a disgraced noble family who disguises herself as a man to work as a bookseller. Her life changes when she encounters a mysterious scholar who wanders at night, who is revealed to be a vampire.
