Scandal Makers (2008 Film)
Scandal Makers (Korean: 과속스캔들; RR: Gwasok Seukaendeul; lit. Speed Scandal) is a 2008 South Korean comedy-drama film written and directed by Kang Hyung-chul. The film stars Cha Tae-hyun as Nam Hyun-soo, a former teen idol turned popular radio DJ, whose life is upended when a young woman named Hwang Jung-nam (Park Bo-young) arrives at his home claiming to be his daughter, accompanied by her young son, Ki-dong (Wang Suk-hyun).

Plot
Nam Hyun-soo, a man in his mid-30s, enjoys a successful career as a radio personality. His orderly life is disrupted when Hwang Jung-nam, a young woman, appears at his doorstep with her son, Ki-dong. Jung-nam claims that Hyun-soo is her biological father, effectively making him a grandfather. Initially skeptical and dismissive, Hyun-soo is forced to allow them to stay when Jung-nam threatens to expose the situation to the media. The arrangement leads to public misunderstandings, as onlookers incorrectly assume the trio is a romantic family unit.
Production and Release
The film was produced by Ahn Byung-ki, Shin Hye-yeon, and Lee An-na, with cinematography by Kim Joon-young. It was released in South Korea on December 4, 2008, by Lotte Entertainment. The film has a runtime of 108 minutes.


Box Office Performance
Scandal Makers achieved significant commercial success in South Korea. It opened at number one at the box office, selling 474,407 tickets across 473 screens, which accounted for 39.2% of all tickets sold during its opening weekend. Throughout its theatrical run, the film sold a total of 8,269,723 tickets and remained in the top ten for 12 consecutive weeks. At the conclusion of its run, it was ranked as the seventh highest-grossing film in South Korean history.
