Risky Romance (Korean: 사생결단 로맨스) is a South Korean television series that aired on the MBC network in 2018. The drama blends elements of medical drama with romantic comedy, focusing on the professional and personal lives of a neurosurgeon and an endocrinologist.
Premise
The series centers on the relationship between Han Seung-Joo, a competitive neurosurgeon, and Joo In-A, an endocrinologist with a specialized interest in the influence of hormones on human behavior. Their contrasting personalities and professional approaches form the core of the narrative.
Production
The series was directed by Lee Chang-Han, with a screenplay written by Kim Nam-Hee and Heo Seung-Min. The production held its first script reading on May 3, 2018, at the MBC Broadcasting Station in Sangam, South Korea. The show aired from July 23 to September 17, 2018, occupying the Monday and Tuesday 22:00 time slot. It followed the series Partners for Justice and was succeeded by Bad Papa.
The lead actors, Ji Hyun-Woo and Lee Si-Young, had previously collaborated on the 2010 KBS2 drama Becoming a Billionaire. During its broadcast, the schedule for episodes 17–20 was adjusted to accommodate the airing of the 18th Asian Games.
