Rent-a-Girlfriend (2022 TV Series)

Rent-a-Girlfriend (Japanese: Kanojo, Okarishimasu) is a Japanese television drama series that aired in 2022. The series is a live-action adaptation based on the manga series of the same name written and illustrated by Reiji Miyajima, which began serialization in Weekly Shonen Magazine on July 12, 2017.

Plot

The story follows Kazuya Kinoshita, a university student struggling with his self-esteem and a tendency to be dishonest to maintain a sense of superiority. After being dumped by his first girlfriend, Mami Nanami, following a brief one-month relationship, Kazuya is left emotionally devastated. In an attempt to cope with his loneliness and heartbreak, he utilizes a rental girlfriend service. He is paired with Chizuru Mizuhara, who impresses him with her professional, beautiful, and considerate demeanor. However, their professional arrangement soon leads to a series of unexpected and complicated situations.

The series was directed by Daisuke Yamamoto and Kazuki Ima, with the screenplay written by Kumiko Aso. It was broadcast on TV Asahi for a total of 10 episodes between July 3 and September 25, 2022.
