Rebound (2023 Film)

Rebound (Korean: 리바운드) is a 2023 South Korean sports drama film directed by Jang Hang-jun. The film is based on the true story of the Busan Jungang High School basketball team, which achieved a notable performance during the 2012 national high school basketball tournament despite having only six players on its roster.

Plot

The narrative follows Kang Yang-hyun (played by Ahn Jae-hong), a former MVP high school basketball player who takes on the role of coach for the struggling basketball team at Busan Jungang High School. Once an elite program, the team faces significant challenges with a depleted roster of only six players: Cheon Ki-beom, Bae Kyu-hyeok, Hong Soon-kyu, Jung Gang-ho, Heo Jae-yoon, and Jung Jin-wook. The film depicts the team's journey as they compete in the 2012 national tournament.

Production

The film was directed by Jang Hang-jun, with a screenplay written by Kim Eun-hee and Kwon Sung-whee. Principal photography for the project commenced on April 2, 2022, and concluded on July 13, 2022. The film was distributed by Barunson E&A and released in South Korea on April 5, 2023.
