Professional Baek (2014 Film)

Professional Baek (Korean: 백프로; RR: Baekpeuro) is a 2014 South Korean sports drama film directed by Kim Myung-kyun. The film follows the story of a former professional golfer who seeks personal redemption while working as a temporary teacher on a remote island.

Plot

Baek Se-jin (played by Yoon Si-yoon) is a talented professional golfer whose career and personal life unravel due to his arrogant behavior and lifestyle. Following a tragic car accident that results in the death of his manager, Se-jin loses his ability to speak due to psychological trauma. A year later, he is invited to a small island to serve as a temporary teacher at a local elementary school. The school, facing closure, hopes to save itself by having its students compete in a junior golf tournament. The residents and students eventually persuade the reluctant Se-jin to coach the children, leading to a journey of mutual growth and healing.

Production

The film was directed by Kim Myung-kyun, who also wrote the screenplay. Principal photography for the production took place over several months, beginning on January 15, 2011, and concluding on September 24, 2011.
