Poong, The Joseon Psychiatrist

Poong, The Joseon Psychiatrist (Korean: 조선 정신과 의사 유세풍) is a South Korean television series that aired on tvN in 2022. The drama is based on the novel of the same name by Lee Eun-So, which was published by Saeum on July 18, 2018.

Plot

The story follows Yoo Se-Poong, a talented physician serving the royal family. After becoming entangled in a royal conspiracy, he is ousted from the palace. He eventually arrives in the remote Gyesu Village, where he encounters Gye Ji-Han and Seo Eun-Woo. Through his experiences in the village, Yoo Se-Poong evolves from a palace doctor into a practitioner who addresses both the physical ailments and the mental suffering of his patients.

Production

The series was directed by Park Won-Gook, with a writing team consisting of Park Seul-Ki, Choi Min-Ho, and Lee Bom. It premiered on August 1, 2022, and concluded its 12-episode run on September 6, 2022. The show occupied the Monday and Tuesday 22:30 time slot on tvN, following Link: Eat, Love, Kill and preceding Mental Coach Jegal.
