Pied Piper (2016 South Korean Television Series)

Pied Piper (Korean: 피리부는 사나이; RR: Piribooneun Sanai) is a South Korean television drama series that aired on the cable network tvN in 2016. The series, which consists of 16 episodes, follows the operations of a police crisis negotiation team tasked with resolving high-stakes incidents, including hostage situations, terror threats, and attempted suicides, through communication rather than force.

Production

The series was directed by Kim Hong-Sun and written by Ryoo Yong-Jae. This project marked a reunion for the director and screenwriter, who had previously collaborated on the 2014 tvN drama Liar Game. The first script reading for the production took place on January 1, 2016, at the CJ E&M Center in Sangam-dong, Seoul.

The role of the male lead was initially offered to actor Cho Seung-Woo, who declined the part. The series occupied the Monday and Tuesday 23:00 time slot on tvN, succeeding Cheese in the Trap and preceding Another Miss Oh.
