Oufuku Shokan: Jugo-nen Go no Hoshu is a Japanese television drama that aired on TBS on September 30, 2016. The production is based on the novel Oufuku Shokan, written by Kanae Minato and published by Gentosha in 2010.

Plot

The story follows Mariko Okano, an office worker whose boyfriend, Junichi Nagata, abruptly decides to leave Japan to work as an international volunteer teaching children in a developing country. Mariko struggles with the sudden change in their relationship, particularly because Junichi did not consult her regarding his plans. As he becomes unreachable by phone, the couple begins to communicate through letters. Concurrently, a murder and arson investigation begins after a burned body is discovered at a lumber warehouse, a case led by Detective Ryuzo Kameyama.

Production and Cast

The drama was directed by Go Shichitaka with a screenplay by Shizuka Ouki. The cast features Nao Matsushita as Mariko Okano and Hayato Ichihara as Junichi Nagata. The supporting cast includes Aki Asakura, Yuki Morinaga, Suzunosuke, Itsumi Osawa, Satomi Nagano, Yumi Takigawa, Ginnojo Yamazaki, Kenjiro Nashimoto, and Takeshi Kaga as Detective Ryuzo Kameyama. Younger versions of the characters are portrayed by Reika Nishihata, Kohei Fukuyama, Ryo Shinoda, and Yuki Imai.
