Oh! Young-Sim

Oh! Young-Sim is a South Korean television series that aired in 2023 on the ENA network. The drama follows the professional and personal life of Oh Young-Sim, a television variety show producer in her 30s struggling to maintain her career after several of her programs were cancelled due to low ratings.

Plot

Oh Young-Sim (played by Song Ha-Yoon) is a producer who faces a career crisis. She is given an opportunity to produce a pilot for a new love-themed entertainment show. During the casting process, she selects a famous start-up founder named Mark Wang (Lee Dong-Hae). To her surprise, she discovers that Mark Wang is actually Wang Kyung-Tae, a boy from her past who had a crush on her before moving to the United States. The series explores their reunion 20 years later, alongside the dynamics of her workplace and her interactions with colleagues like PD Lee Chae-Dong.

Production and Background

The series is loosely adapted from the 1988 comic Yeolnesal Youngsimyi by Bae Geu-Taek, which was originally published in the magazine IQ Jump. While the source material focuses on the protagonist as a 14-year-old teenager, the television adaptation shifts the narrative to follow her life as an adult in her 30s. The character of Lee Chae-Dong, portrayed by Lee Min-Jae, was created specifically for this television series and does not appear in the original comic.

The series premiered on May 15, 2023, and concluded on June 13, 2023, consisting of 10 episodes. It occupied the Monday and Tuesday 22:00 time slot on ENA, following the conclusion of Pale Moon and preceding Lies Hidden In My Garden.
