No Blood No Tears (Korean: 피도 눈물도 없이; RR: Pido nunmuldo eobshi) is a 2002 South Korean crime-action film directed by Ryoo Seung-wan. The film explores the intersection of desperate lives within the criminal underworld, centering on two women who attempt to seize a large sum of money from an illegal dog-fighting operation.

Plot

Gyung-sun is a former professional safecracker currently working as a night-shift taxi driver. Her life is defined by financial struggle and the shadow of a past relationship, as she is pressured by local gangsters to repay debts incurred by her ex-husband. Her path crosses with Soo-jin, a woman who works as a ring girl and aspires to be a singer. Soo-jin lives in an abusive relationship with her boyfriend, known as Bulldog, who manages an illegal dog-fighting ring owned by a ruthless loan shark named KGB. Together, the two women conspire to steal the significant cash reserves held by the criminal organization.

Production and Release

The film was directed by Ryoo Seung-wan, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Jeong Jin-wan. It was produced by Kim Sung-Je and distributed by Cinema Service. Principal photography took place in Incheon, South Korea. Upon its release on March 1, 2002, the film recorded 228,800 ticket sales in Seoul, where it screened on 44 screens.
