Night in Paradise (2020 Film)
Night in Paradise (Korean: 낙원의 밤; RR: Nakwonui Bam) is a 2020 South Korean crime drama film written and directed by Park Hoon-jung. The film premiered at the 77th Venice International Film Festival on September 3, 2020, and was released globally via Netflix on April 9, 2021.
Plot
Tae-gu (Um Tae-goo) is a skilled member of a criminal organization who attempts to distance himself from gang life to care for his ailing sister and young niece. After his sister and niece are killed in a targeted car explosion, Tae-gu seeks retribution against those he believes are responsible. Following his act of revenge, he flees to Jeju Island. There, he encounters Jae-yeon (Jeon Yeo-been), a woman living with a terminal illness. The two form a bond while navigating their respective circumstances.
Production and Release
The film was directed by Park Hoon-jung. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the film bypassed a traditional theatrical release in South Korea and was distributed internationally through Netflix on April 9, 2021.
