Na Hong-jin

Na Hong-jin (born 1974) is a South Korean film director and screenwriter recognized for his contributions to the thriller and horror genres. He has gained international attention for his meticulous approach to filmmaking and his ability to craft intense, atmospheric narratives.

Career

Na made his feature film directorial debut with The Chaser (2008), a crime thriller that received critical acclaim and established his reputation in the South Korean film industry. He followed this with The Yellow Sea (2010), a gritty drama that further showcased his stylistic focus on tension and character-driven conflict. In 2016, he directed The Wailing, a supernatural horror film that achieved significant success both domestically and internationally. His upcoming project is titled Hope, scheduled for release in 2026.
