My Dearest, Like a Cherry Blossom (Japanese: 桜のような僕の恋人, Romaji: Sakura no Yona Boku no Koibito) is a 2022 Japanese romantic drama film directed by Yoshihiro Fukagawa. The film was released internationally on the streaming platform Netflix on March 24, 2022.
Production and Background
The film is based on the novel Sakura no Yona Boku no Koibito, written by Keisuke Uyama and published by Shueisha on February 17, 2017. The screenplay for the adaptation was written by Tomoko Yoshida. The production was managed by producers Kei Haruna and Takahiro Kawada, with cinematography by Hiroo Yanagida.
Plot
The story follows Haruto Asakura, portrayed by Kento Nakajima, who falls in love with a hairdresser named Misaki Ariake, played by Honoka Matsumoto. Influenced by Misaki's dedication to her profession, Haruto finds the motivation to pursue his own aspirations as a photographer. However, their relationship faces a profound challenge when Misaki is diagnosed with a rare medical condition that causes her to age at a rate ten times faster than normal.
