Mr. Socrates (2005 Film)

Mr. Socrates (Korean: 미스터 소크라테스) is a 2005 South Korean action film written and directed by Choi Jin-Won. The film explores themes of crime, redemption, and institutional corruption through the story of a low-level criminal forced into a new life.

Plot

The story follows Ku Dong-Hyeok (Kim Rae-Won), a small-time street thug living a reckless life. His trajectory changes abruptly when he is kidnapped by a powerful criminal organization. Following a period of intense and grueling training, Dong-Hyeok is coerced into infiltrating the police department as an officer to serve the interests of his captors.

Production

Mr. Socrates was directed and written by Choi Jin-Won. The film was produced by a team including Kim Sang-Oh, Park Tae-Joon, Kim Kwang-Soo, Yoon Kyoung-Hwan, and Kim Min-Jung. It was distributed by Lotte Entertainment and released in South Korea on November 10, 2005, with a total runtime of 109 minutes.
