Moonlight Shadow (2021 Film)

Moonlight Shadow is a 2021 Japanese drama film directed by Edmund Yeo. The film is an adaptation of the short story of the same name by author Banana Yoshimoto, which was originally published in her 1988 collection, Kitchen.

Plot

The story follows Satsuki, portrayed by Nana Komatsu, who struggles to cope with the sudden death of her lover, Hitoshi, played by Hio Miyazawa. Consumed by grief, Satsuki becomes fixated on the "moon shadow" phenomenon—a mysterious event she heard of in her youth, which is said to allow a person to encounter the deceased at the end of a full moon.
