Mobuko no Koi (Film)
Mobuko no Koi, internationally known as A Side Character's Love Story, is a Japanese film directed by Hiroki Kazama and scheduled for release on June 5, 2026. The film is adapted from the manga series of the same name by Akane Tamura, which was first published on September 24, 2016, in the magazine Monthly Comic Zenon.

Production and Release
The film was directed by Hiroki Kazama, with a screenplay co-written by Akane Tamura and Yasuko Kuramitsu. Fumihito Katamura served as the cinematographer. Production was managed by producers Hidetaka Aoyagi, Shuji Ito, Tsutomu Hirabayashi, Hiroto Hashimoto, and Kiichi Kumagai. The movie has a runtime of 122 minutes and is distributed in Japan by Aeon Entertainment and Tokyo Theatres.
Plot Synopsis
Nobuko Tanaka is a university student characterized by a shy and reserved demeanor. Having spent her life acting as a supporting character, or 'mobuko,' she also works a part-time job at a supermarket. During her work, she encounters Hiroki Irie, a fellow part-time worker who attends the same university. Nobuko develops romantic feelings for him. Although she struggles with taking proactive initiatives, she gradually gathers the courage to attempt closing the distance between them.
