Missing Yoon (2022 Film)

Missing Yoon (Korean: 윤시내가 사라졌다; RR: Yoonsinaega Sarijyessda) is a 2022 South Korean road comedy film written and directed by Kim Jin-Hwa. The film explores themes of fame, identity, and generational connection through the story of a social media influencer and two professional impersonators.

Plot

The story centers on Jang Ha-Da (Lee Joo-Young), a YouTuber who is obsessed with increasing her subscriber count and social media engagement. Her mother, Shin Soon-Yi (Oh Min-Ae), works as a professional impersonator of the famous South Korean singer Yoon Si-Nae. When the real Yoon Si-Nae suddenly disappears, Shin Soon-Yi and her colleague, fellow impersonator Jung Joon-Ok (Roh Jae-Won), embark on a journey to locate the singer. Jang Ha-Da joins them on their trip, secretly filming their journey for her YouTube channel in hopes of creating viral content.

Production and Release

The film was produced by Yi Yu-Jeong, with cinematography by Kim Su-Bin. It held its world premiere at the Jeonju International Film Festival on April 29, 2022, and was subsequently released in South Korean theaters on June 8, 2022. The film has a total runtime of 107 minutes.
