Memories of a Dead End (2019 Film)
Memories of a Dead End (Korean: 막다른 골목의 추억; Japanese: デッドエンドの思い出) is a 2019 romantic drama film directed by Choi Hyun-Young. The film is a co-production between South Korea and Japan, featuring dialogue in both languages.

Plot
The story follows Yoo-Mi, played by Sooyoung, who travels to Nagoya, Japan, to visit her fiancé, Tae-Goo (Ahn Bo-Hyun), who is working abroad. Upon her arrival, she discovers that Tae-Goo is involved with another woman and is engaged to her. Devastated by this revelation, Yoo-Mi wanders through the city until she arrives at a location called the End Point Cafe and Guest House. There, she meets the manager, Nishiyama (Shunsuke Tanaka), and decides to stay at the guest house, where she encounters various individuals and their personal stories.
Production
The film is based on the short story collection Deddo Endo no Omoide by the Japanese author Banana Yoshimoto, which was originally published on July 30, 2003, by Bungeishunju. The production was led by producer Kwon Mi-Ji, with cinematography by Sun Sang-Jae.


Release
Memories of a Dead End held its world premiere at the Busan International Film Festival in October 2018. It was subsequently released in Japan on February 16, 2019, followed by a release in South Korea on April 4, 2019.
