Meishi Game

Meishi Game (Japanese: 名刺ゲーム, "Business Card Game") is a Japanese television drama series that aired on the WOWOW network in 2017. The series consists of four episodes and falls within the thriller and "death game" genres. It is based on the novel of the same name written by Osamu Suzuki, which was published by Fusosha Publishing on November 1, 2014.

Plot

The story follows Tatsuya Kanda, a successful producer of a popular television quiz program. Kanda wakes up in a locked secret room alongside his daughter, Mina. Both are wearing mysterious necklaces. The room is filled with scattered business cards. A man known only as "X" presents Kanda with a high-stakes challenge: the "Meishi Game." Kanda must identify the owners of the business cards he has collected throughout his career and return them to their respective owners within a two-hour time limit. If Kanda fails or makes a mistake, his daughter's necklace will detonate. As the game progresses, the narrative explores the hidden secrets behind Kanda's professional and personal life.

Production

Meishi Game was directed by Hisashi Kimura and Yusuke Taki, with a screenplay adapted by Ryohei Watanabe. The series occupied the Saturday 22:00 time slot on WOWOW, airing from December 2 to December 23, 2017. It followed the broadcast of Kataomoi and preceded Haru ga Kita, which began in January 2018.
