Manatsu no Cinderella

Manatsu no Cinderella (Japanese: 真夏のシンデレラ), also known by its English title Cinderellas of Midsummer, is a Japanese television drama series that aired on Fuji TV in 2023. The series was directed by Akira Tanaka with a screenplay by Sayaka Shito.

Plot

The story follows Natsumi Aoi (Nana Mori), a young woman born and raised in a coastal town who works as a surfing instructor. Her life is centered around her hometown and her two childhood friends, Airi Takigawa (Ai Yoshikawa) and Risa Ogura (Sawa Nimura). The narrative shifts when she encounters Kento Mizushima (Shotaro Mamiya), a graduate of a prestigious Tokyo university who works for a major construction firm. The series explores the intersection of their lives, which are defined by vastly different social and professional backgrounds.

Production and Broadcast

The series consisted of 11 episodes and was broadcast during Fuji TV's Monday 21:00 time slot. It premiered on July 10, 2023, and concluded on September 18, 2023. It followed the series Kazama Kimichika: Kyojo Zero and was succeeded by One Day: Wonderful Christmas Ado.
