Mahiru no Akuma
Mahiru no Akuma (Japanese: 真昼の悪魔), also known by the English title The Morality, is a Japanese television drama series that aired in 2017. The series was broadcast on the Fuji TV and Tokai TV networks, occupying the Saturday 23:40 time slot.

Background and Production
The drama is based on the 1980 novel Mahiru no Akuma written by Shusaku Endo and published by Shinchosha. The television adaptation consists of eight episodes and aired from February 4 to March 25, 2017. The series followed Retake in the Saturday night programming block and was succeeded by Criminal Syndrome Season 1 in April 2017. The production was directed by Masahiro Mori and Chiba Yukitoshi, with a screenplay by Takafumi Kosaka.
Plot
The story centers on Yoko Okouchi, portrayed by Rena Tanaka, a talented and respected surgeon known for her kindness toward patients. Beneath her professional exterior, however, she harbors a dark nature, lacking empathy and a sense of guilt. The narrative begins when an aspiring writer named Masato Nanba is admitted to the hospital with appendicitis. While Yoko successfully treats him, the relationship between the doctor and patient takes a disturbing turn during his recovery.

The series features an ensemble cast led by Rena Tanaka. This role marked the first time in Tanaka's career that she portrayed a medical doctor.
