Production and Background
The film was directed by Chihiro Amano, who also co-wrote the screenplay alongside Madoka Kumagai. Kota Ishizuka serves as the producer, while Sung Rae Cho is the cinematographer. The narrative is inspired by a true story involving six individuals arrested after scheming to smuggle gold bars through Chubu Centrair International Airport in 2017.
Plot Synopsis
The story follows three women facing severe personal and financial crises who happen to meet by chance in Singapore:
- Wakako (Kasumi Arimura) is a mother of two children who suddenly discovers her husband was involved in an embezzlement scheme and dismissed from his job.
- Kiyoe (Haru Kuroki) is a researcher burdened with six million yen in debt.
- Mayu (Sara Minami) is single, pregnant, and lacks any savings.
Seeking an escape from their circumstances, the three ordinary women become entangled in a gold smuggling operation. Although the venture initially relieves their troubles and they keep their crime a secret, cracks in their arrangement begin to surface after half a year.
