Liar Game (2014 South Korean TV series)

Liar Game is a South Korean television drama series that aired on the cable network tvN in 2014. The series consists of 12 episodes and was broadcast on Mondays and Tuesdays at 23:00, running from October 20 to November 25, 2014. It is a remake of the Japanese manga series of the same name, written and illustrated by Shinobu Kaitani, which was first published in 2005.

Premise

The plot centers on a high-stakes reality game show where contestants compete for a prize of 10 billion won. The game is designed to reward deception, as participants must outwit and manipulate one another to win. The narrative follows the interactions between Cha Woo-Jin, a brilliant former psychology professor and swindler, and Nam Da-Jung, an exceptionally naive college student who is thrust into the competition.

Production

The series was directed by Kim Hong-Sun with a screenplay by Ryoo Yong-Jae. The production held its first script reading on September 16, 2014, at the CJ E&M Center in Sangam-dong, Seoul. The show occupied the time slot previously held by My Secret Hotel and was succeeded by Valid Love.
