The series is based on the manga series Kodoku no Gourmet, originally written by Masayuki Qusumi and illustrated by Jiro Taniguchi. The source material was serialized between 1994 and 1996 in Monthly PANJA magazine. The television adaptation was directed by Kenji Mizoguchi and Takeshi Igawa, with scripts written by Yoshihiro Taguchi alongside contributions from the original creator.

Plot Synopsis

The narrative follows Goro Inogashiro, portrayed by Yutaka Matsushige. Goro works as an independent import trader dealing in general goods, which requires him to travel to various neighborhoods and towns across Japan for business appointments. Between his work tasks, he takes time to explore local dining establishments, focusing on unique, specialized restaurants where he savors various meals entirely on his own.
