Kodoku no Gourmet Season 9: Overview and Production Details

Solitary Gourmet Season 9, known in Japanese as 孤独のグルメ Season9 and in Romaji as Kodoku no Gourmet Season 9, is a Japanese television drama series broadcast on TV Tokyo. The program follows the protagonist Goro Inogashira, portrayed by actor Yutaka Matsushige, as he visits various restaurants to dine alone.

Broadcast and Production Information

The ninth season of the series consists of 12 episodes and aired from July 9 through September 24, 2021. Episodes were broadcast in the Friday 24:12–24:52 time slot on TV Tokyo. In the network's scheduling block, it took over the time slot previously occupied by Ikiru Toka Shinu Toka Chichioya Toka and was subsequently followed by Snack Kizutsuki on October 8, 2021.

The series is directed by Takeshi Igawa, Ryuichi Kitabata, Kento Kitao, and Go Sasaki. The screenplays were written by Yoshihiro Taguchi and Yoriko Kodama.

Source Material

The television drama is based on the manga series Kodoku no Gourmet, created by writer Masayuki Qusumi and illustrator Jiro Taniguchi. The original manga was serialized across different magazines, appearing in Monthly PANJA between 1994 and 1996, and later in Shukan SPA! from 2008 to 2015.
