Solitary Gourmet Season 6 (known in Japanese as Kodoku no Gurume Season 6) is the sixth installment of the television drama series adapted from the manga of the same name. Broadcast in Japan on TV Tokyo, the season ran for 12 episodes between April 7 and June 30, 2017.

Premise and Broadcast Background

The series follows Goro Inogashiro, portrayed by Yutaka Matsushige, an independent import trader who travels across various towns in Japan for business. Throughout his travels, Inogashiro visits local dining establishments to sample regional dishes entirely on his own.

In the TV Tokyo schedule, Season 6 occupied the Friday 24:12 time slot, succeeding the program The Supporting Actors and preceding Shimokitazawa Die Hard, which premiered on July 21, 2017.

Source Material

The television drama is based on the manga series Kodoku no Gourmet, written by Masayuki Qusumi and illustrated by Jiro Taniguchi. The original manga was serialized between 1994 and 1996 in Monthly PANJA magazine.

Production and Staff

The twelfth-episode season was directed by Kenji Mizoguchi, Takeshi Igawa, and Ryuichi Kitahata. Screenplay duties were handled by Yoshihiro Taguchi and Yoriko Kodama, drawing upon the original concepts and narratives established in Qusumi and Taniguchi's manga.

Cast and Characters

Yutaka Matsushige stars as the protagonist Goro Inogashiro. Each episode features guest appearances by various actors portraying restaurant proprietors, clerks, and local customers encountered during Inogashiro's dining excursions. Notable guest actors for this season include Seiji Rokkaku as real estate agent Shimazaki in episode 1, Gaku Hamada in episode 5, and Jin Katagiri in episode 11.
