Kingdom (2019 Film)
Kingdom is a 2019 Japanese live-action film directed by Shinsuke Sato. It is an adaptation of the historical manga series of the same name, written and illustrated by Yasuhisa Hara, which began serialization in Weekly Young Jump in 2006.
Plot
The story is set in ancient China during the Warring States period. The narrative follows Shin, a war orphan who aspires to become a great general. His path crosses with Eisei, a young king who seeks to unify China. Together, they navigate the political and military challenges of the era.
Production
Principal photography for the film commenced in April 2018. The production team filmed on location in China before returning to Japan, where shooting continued for approximately one and a half months. The film's theme song, "Wasted Nights," was performed by the Japanese rock band One Ok Rock.
