Joint Security Area (Korean: 공동경비구역 JSA) is a 2000 South Korean mystery-drama film directed by Park Chan-wook. The narrative is based on the novel DMZ by Park Sang-yeon. The film explores the political and personal tensions surrounding a fatal shooting incident within the Joint Security Area of the Korean Demilitarized Zone.

Plot
The story centers on a lethal shooting at the 'Bridge of No Return' in Panmunjom. A North Korean border guard is killed, and a South Korean soldier, Sergeant Lee Soo-hyuk, is discovered wounded in the neutral zone. The incident triggers a diplomatic crisis, with both North and South Korea accusing the other of provocation and aggression. To resolve the dispute, the Neutral Nations Supervisory Commission (NNSC) dispatches Major Sophie E. Jean, a Swiss army officer of Korean descent, to conduct an impartial investigation into the events.
