Izakaya Fuji (Japanese TV Series)

Izakaya Fuji (Japanese: 居酒屋ふじ) is a Japanese television drama series that aired on TV Tokyo from July 8 to September 23, 2017. The series consists of 12 episodes and was broadcast during the Saturday late-night programming block.

Plot

The story follows Eiichi Nishio, a struggling young actor who finds little professional success, often relegated to minor roles such as playing dead bodies. While exploring the Nakameguro district of Tokyo, he discovers a local restaurant and bar called Izakaya Fuji, which he had previously seen featured on social media. Upon entering, he encounters various established actors who frequent the establishment, including Nao Omori, who appears as himself.

Production

The drama is based on the novel Izakaya Fuji by Keisuke Kuriyama, which was published by Kodansha on March 17, 2015. The series was directed by Shunichi Nagasaki and Masahiro Kunimoto, with a screenplay written by Nonji Nemoto.
