I, the Executioner (2024 Film)

I, the Executioner, released in South Korea as Veteran 2 (Korean: 베테랑2), is a 2024 South Korean action crime film directed by Ryoo Seung-wan. It serves as the sequel to the 2015 film Veteran. The film features the return of detective Seo Do-cheol as he navigates a new investigation involving a serial killer.

Plot

Detective Seo Do-cheol (Hwang Jung-min), a veteran member of the violent crimes investigation squad, continues his work in law enforcement. The team is joined by rookie detective Park Sun-woo (Jung Hae-in). Together, they pursue a serial killer whose actions have caused significant public alarm.

Production

The film was directed by Ryoo Seung-wan, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Lee Won-jae. Principal photography for the project commenced in December 2022. The film was produced by Lee Joon-kyu with cinematography by Choi Young-hwan. It held its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in May 2024 before its wide release in South Korea on September 13, 2024.
